New York. Knopf. 1955. First edition. A near fine book in a very good dust jacket. Price clipped. Some wear at the extremities and light chipping to the front panel, but bold, bright colors on the dust jacket. Edited by Wallace Stegner who has written a chapter. The book, with contributions from several notable naturalists, was written when the federal government sought to dam the Green and Yampa Rivers near Dinosaur National Monument in Utah. The dam was never built. [Book #26282]

Some wear to the extremities of the dust jacket toning to the rear panel. A cheaply produced book during war time that has held up quite well. This was Wallace Stegner's first major book, one with a great western sweep, always in pursuit of the American Dream with El Dorado just over the hill.
