New York: McDowell, Obolensky 1959. First U.S. edition. This is a review copy in brown cloth with green paper-covered vertical stripe on the front board; top edge stained brown. Near Fine in a Very Good+ to Near Fine un-clipped dust jacket; light wear with a few short closed tears to edges, slight fading to the spine. With the original 'Review slip' laid in, as well as a photo-postcard taken of the author at Stanford University in 1988. This is a high spot of modern literature, one of the most important books in African literature. Achebe, a native of Nigeria, is often called the father of modern African literature.
