New York: Harcourt Brace & Co., 1952. First edition. A near fine book in a near fine dust jacket. Blue cloth boards. (One of three different colors with no priority.) The dust jacket has some wear and creasing to the rear panel. Jacket clipped slightly at four corners, but price of $3.00 is clearly present. Small ink stain at the bottom edges of the book. Dust jacket shows some restoration to the rear flap seam and spine ends. Minror restoration to the top of the front end paper. Signed by the author on the front free endpaper. Malamud wrote this while he was a professor at the University of Oregon. The book was the basis for the 1984 movie of the same name that starred Robert Redford and Robert Duvall. But the director, Barry Levinson, gave the movie a much different ending than the book.
