New York: Random House, 1965. Hardcover. First edition, first printing. Cormac McCarthy's uncommon first book set in a remote community in Tennessee. He would go on to write such modern-day classics as Blood Meridian, All the Pretty Horses, No Country for Old Men and The Road. Original mauve paper-covered boards with bright colors on the spine. Two slender strips of offsetting from old dust jacket protector to the rear pastedown. Mild fading to the top edge. The near fine dust jacket is very lightly tanned along the spine with a tiny nick to the spine head and a small unnecessary tape reinforcement to the verso.
