New York: Macmillan, 1960. Hardcover. First edition. A near fine book in a very good plus jacket. Corners of the front jacket flap are clipped but the price of $3.95 is present on the flap. Some rubbing to the rear panel and a short closed tear at the top of the rear panel. One of the nicer copies of this book that you will find. Pages browned, as is common with this title. But overall a very collectible copy. Stated first printing. This is Williams's second novel, a revisionist history of the settling of the West that involves three men who set out on a buffalo hunt and in an orgy of killing find themselves forever changed. Williams was the author of the novels, Stoner, and Augustus which won the National Book Award.
