A Murder of Quality.
New York: Walker and Co., 1963. Hardcover. First U.S. edition. This is Le Carre's second novel and the second to feature his recurring character and master spy, George Smiley. The novel offers an exquisite, satirical look at an elite private school (The kind that John Le Carre' despised) as it chronicles the early development of George Smiley. A near fine book in a very good dust jacket. Boards are bit splayed, but book retains the original yellow binding with no bumped corners. Dust jacket is unclipped with price of $3.50 present on front flap. Slight sunning to the spine, modest edge wear and a few small tears at the crown. Some dampstaining to the spine and some scattered foxing along rear flap edges. A signed bookplate by John Le Carre' is laid into the book. Signed by the author.
